We’re a growing market. If you haven’t been for awhile, you might not know that market-favourite, George’s Garden, and flower-farmer Alice are attracting fans to the Garden room by the playground. Come and catch some market vibes, stock up on fresh produce and artisan goodies direct from the people who make and grow them. For many locals, this is part of their weekly Sunday ritual and maybe it will become part of your routine too – a modern version of the village square.
About our Market
Market will be closed on Sunday 7 March
The market committee has agreed to keep the market closed on Sunday 7 March for the following reasons:
This email provides some information on how get hold of some market products and produce while the market is closed. There are two broad channels:
- Mainly to provide stallholders and customers with certainty
- We know that Saturday markets will be closed and many stallholders need markets on both days to justify production
- 7 days from 6am yesterday would take us to 6am next Sunday, meaning that stallholder preparation for a market would be under level 3 restrictions
- There is a strong possibility that the lockdown wouldn’t be lifted until the end of the weekend.
- Through the Bread & Butter online shop
- Directly from the individual stallholders
We are a neighbourhood market, started by locals to provide a venue for buying produce and ethical food, directly from the people who grow and make it.
For many locals, this is part of their weekly Sunday ritual. It is a relaxed way to stock up with fresh food and catch up with other locals – a modern version of the village square.

Grey Lynn Farmers Market …
is a 100% community-owned and operated food market – a local alternative to supermarkets. We are a vital part of the food distribution network. Now more than ever, we all need access to fresh, nutritionally-dense food. Supermarkets are not closing. And many small businesses rely on farmers markets to sell their products. We are doing our best to preserve their livelihoods.
Come and talk to the wonderful people who grow and make the nutritious and delicious foods.
